Newly Named White House Press Secretary Is Native Of Stamford

A Fairfield County native has been named to serve as President-elect Joe Biden’s White House press secretary.

Stamford native Jen Psaki (pronounced Saki) was named to an all-female communication's staff by Biden on Sunday, Nov. 29.

Psaki, a 1996 Greenwich High School graduate, currently oversees the confirmations team for the Biden-Harris transition, the president-elect said in a news release.

A graduate of William and Mary, Psaki is the daughter of Jim Psaki, of Greenwich, and Eileen Medvey, of Stamford. 

Since graduation, Psaki has worked on both Obama presidential campaigns and became the press spokesperson for Secretary of State John Kerry.

Psaki was a spokesperson at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2006 and has also served as Communications Director to former Congressman Joe Crowley. 

Before joining the Biden-Harris Transition Team, Psaki was the Vice President for Communications and Strategy at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a CNN contributor. 

Psaki lives in Virginia with her husband and two children.
